I often make the doxies treats instead of buying store bought ones. With all the recall scares with both treats and food, I've been cooking for my human AND furry family. I recently bought this cute, doxie shaped cookie cutter for when I make the treats.
I bought it from Amazon for around 4 bucks.
It makes the cutest treats!
Cut and ready to bake...
Baked...
Cooled and ready to be consumed by a couple of hungry doxies...
A very satisfied Sheldon...
Notice he went straight for the head? My little cannibal! LOL Unfortunately all of the photos of Penny turned out blurry and the treat was mostly crumbs because she consumed it with such excitement!
If you're looking to make your own fur kids some treats here's a link to a good recipe:
The recipe I used was given to me by a friend, so I don't want to put it on the blog unless she gives me permission to share it. I don't know if it's her own recipe or if she got it from somewhere else. Most of the PNB dog treat recipes are basically the same ingredients. I can tell you that if you take the above recipe, double it, and add an egg you'll be basically making the same recipe as I made. LOL Oh, wait....that may be cheating? She won't care, though. I got 32 dog treats out of my batch. They'll be enjoying these treats for a while. And I won't have to worry about possible contaminations or recalls from the manufacturer! Yay! Win, win!
You're too funny! Add an egg.... Cheating?? Heck no! Sharing is what we call it. We too have those cutters. We also have 2 cook books just for dog friendly treats. One came with 3 canine cookie cutters. We've still not used them yet. The cookies came out really nice looking so we're off to read your recipe now.
