Penny's Thoughts On Fashion

I'm not sure what Penny was thinking while I was snapping this photo, but I imagine it was something like this...

Penny: I. Hate. You. Get this shit off me!

But doesn't she look adorable? We got her a bright pink one, too.

Rock The Vote

This happened today...

Sheldon helped me decide how to vote before his Dad and I got our early voting in. He says he's NPA. 😄 He was a big help, as you can see. lol This is a Hipstamatic photo using their free voting pak. It automatically adds captions. There's also an option of no captions like this one...

Penny helped from under the covers, so no pics of her.

Mani Pedi Time

We took Sheldon to Petsmart for a nail trim today.

Here he is waiting his turn.

It's his turn!

Such a brave boy!

After his trim he got to choose a new toy for being such a good boy.

This one!!

Penny will be going in for her trim, too. I'll post photos of her Mani/Pedi, too.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Sheldon!

Happy birthday, my sweet boy! I love you more than you'll ever know!

This is Sheldon playing with his favorite birthday gift. It's a fluffy green spider that grunts and is bigger than he is. He fell asleep on it shortly after this photo was taken.

Homemade Treats

I often make the doxies treats instead of buying store bought ones. With all the recall scares with both treats and food, I've been cooking for my human AND furry family. I recently bought this cute, doxie shaped cookie cutter for when I make the treats.

I bought it from Amazon for around 4 bucks.

It makes the cutest treats!

Cut and ready to bake...

Baked...

Cooled and ready to be consumed by a couple of hungry doxies...

A very satisfied Sheldon...

Notice he went straight for the head? My little cannibal! LOL Unfortunately all of the photos of Penny turned out blurry and the treat was mostly crumbs because she consumed it with such excitement!

If you're looking to make your own fur kids some treats here's a link to a good recipe:

The recipe I used was given to me by a friend, so I don't want to put it on the blog unless she gives me permission to share it. I don't know if it's her own recipe or if she got it from somewhere else. Most of the PNB dog treat recipes are basically the same ingredients. I can tell you that if you take the above recipe, double it, and add an egg you'll be basically making the same recipe as I made. LOL Oh, wait....that may be cheating? She won't care, though. I got 32 dog treats out of my batch. They'll be enjoying these treats for a while. And I won't have to worry about possible contaminations or recalls from the manufacturer! Yay! Win, win!

Photo Friday!

Hehe! She's more destructive than she looks!

Yay! Walk time! Sheldon's favorite time of day!

Daddy walks Penny and Sheldon walks me. lol

Have a great Friday!

Thanks to everyone who's participating in the Instagram hashtag thing! It's fun having doxie friends on the blog! Don't forget to come back and see what new doxie photos have been added from Instagram each day!

Photo Slideshow

I put together a little slideshow of random photos for my art blog and decided to share it here, as well, since most of the photos are of Sheldon. Not all of them are the greatest of photos, but there's something about every one of them that I liked enough to include. I hope you enjoy it!

We Won The Sunshine Award!

Sheldon: Yay! We got an award!

Penny: From who?

Penny: Really?! How nice of them!

Sheldon: Yeah, they're nice friends.

Penny: So did we win anything?

Sheldon: Yes, it's called bragging rights, Penny. Sheesh!
Must everything be about treats with you?

Penny: Yes, everything must be about treats. Sorry.

Sheldon: Anyway! So, now we get to be interviewed!

Penny: Treats after?!

Sheldon: No, Penny. Ma already gave us treats for today! Focus!

Penny: ......

Sheldon: Again, anyway....are you ready for the questions we're supposed to answer?

Penny: Sure! I'll pretend I'm a rock star being interviewed.

Sheldon: Ok, whatever you have to tell yourself. Here we go!

1. Favorite number
Penny: One million! That's the number of treats I'd like!
Sheldon: Number one. Because Ma says whenever we go outside I have to do number one. I don't know what it means, but it must be good if it gets me outside.
Penny: Typical guy answer, Sheldon!

2. Favorite non-alcholic beverage?
Penny: Ma lets us have broth from the meat she boils for us sometimes. I love it when she does that!
Sheldon: Yeah, I have to agree with Penny on this one.

3. Facebook or Twitter?
Penny: Oh, without a doubt, Dogbook! No, really....it's a thing. It's Facebook for dogs. Sheldon and I both have a profile.
Sheldon: Well, if Penny's going to cheat and not pick EITHER of the choices, then I'll do the same and say Instagram. We get lots of likes on Instagram and have lots of doxie friends. Ma's name on IG is Rischa. (she's not very original, is she?)

4. Your Passion?
Penny: Treats and naps!
Sheldon: Snuggles, walks, and tearing up toys!

5. Favorite Pattern?
Penny: My blanket has polk-a-dots, so those are good.
Sheldon: My blanket has circles, so I like circle patterns.

6. Favorite Day of the Week?
Penny: Saturday! Dad's always home on Saturday.
Sheldon: Yeah, that's my answer, as well. Ma's my favorite, but Dad's good at playing.

7. Favorite Flower?
Penny: I like all flowers that Sheldon hasn't hiked his leg on. Flowers are pretty. Especially the one on the award image!
Sheldon: I like the short ones. Get it?

Sheldon: Ok, now that we've answered the questions, we're supposed to tag 10 other furriends and let them know they won this award. Honestly, we only have a couple of furry friends that visit on a regular or semi-regular basis and the sweet doxies that tagged us are among the 2 or 3 that do. So we won't have 10, but we do have some. Here they are...

&

Penny and Sheldon: Thank you so much, Lily Belle and Muffin! We really appreciate you giving us this award! You're the best!

Favorite Activities

I think these two photos show exactly what each weena loves doing the most. Or in Penny's case, what she loves not doing. Which would be ANYthing! LOL My sweet, but lazy, girl.

And my oh-so-active baby boy, Sheldon.

We take Sheldon on walks every day. Sometimes we go several times a day. He loves to be active! Penny couldn't be more opposite if she tried! We take her on walks and end up dragging or carrying her. Haha! Silly girl! It would be good for her to walk, too, but she'll have none of it. We can sometimes get her around the block once, so it isn't unheard of to see her walking. It just isn't usual. She much prefers to be treated like the princess that she is and have things brought to her. Who needs to walk when you have humans to do things for you? Not a bad life, if ya ask me!

Pixlr-O-Meter Sheldon

I just downloaded a new program for my Mac that I've had on my iPhone4s in app form for a while and wanted to give it a try. I went to my Go-To model, Sheldon. It's actually an old cell photo that I just browsed through and clicked. It turned out ok, though. Kinda retro, which is the point of the software. It will come in handy for blogging when you don't have time to use Photoshop.

If you'd like to have it, too, here is the link: Pixlr-O-Meter

Happy Easter

I hope you all have had a nice Easter! We did. In the photos above Sheldon has chosen his favorite Easter Basket treat and is trying to bury it on our bed. He cracked us up doing that all over the house.

Like any other day, we went for our evening walk around the hood. Every day we see groupings of Sandhill Cranes. We leave them alone and they leave us alone. Well.....usually.

YouTube Video

After our encounter with the cranes we crossed the road and walked our usual route. On our way back they were still in the same spot.

YouTube Video

Silly cranes. I love them.

Thanks for stopping by! 🐰

Vet Time for Sheldoggy

Today was Sheldon's annual vet visit. (Well, technically it was yesterday since it's after midnight now.) It started with a ride in the car. Knowing Sheldon like I do, I knew the anxiety would start as soon as he entered my vehicle. He has always hated car rides, as I've mentioned before. He shakes, he whimpers, and then come the farts. Yes, I said farts. Nerves = Farts for my sweet little guy. He bombed me in the car, he bombed the exam room, he bombed the front lobby, he let us know how he felt about the situation during the whole thing. I can't blame him. He doesn't understand why Mom and Dad would take him to a strange place to have them poke and prod him when he could be napping on the bed at home. (like he's doing now)

Our appointment was at 4:30.  Dr. Curtis, the nurse, and the rest of the staff were so sweet to my nervous fellow. The staff was understanding about the farts. I mentioned he was gassy and the nurse said, jokingly, "Oh, I was starting to think that was me." I appreciate a good sense of humor. She took him back to weigh him, test him, draw blood, etc... I'm glad Joel was there because I was pretty nervous about him being out of my sight. I know he's in good hands, but still...I knew he was upset about being there, so handing him off to a stranger was hard. I know they took good care of him, but my Mom nerves were worse during this point of the visit. They brought him back and we waited with him in the room while the tests were being done. This is when we let him explore the exam room.

(I had to use YouTube for the last one because Blogger was acting weird.)

Dr. Curtis won him over at the end of the exam by feeding him treats. I really like that whole office because they're so sweet to him. The building is nice, as well. They have the cutest artwork on the walls.

Artist: Gena Semenov

On to the important stuff, Sheldon got an A on his exam. He's at a "perfect" weight, so says the Doc. She said to look out for his teeth as Dachshunds are known for having periodontal disease. I may go ahead and try to start brushing his teeth. Probably not every day, but once a week to start out and get him used to it. We picked up a different flea/tick/heartworm preventative this time. I wish I could tell ya what it is, but I forget and Sheldon's sleeping in my lap at the moment. Anyway, I gave him his pill with dinner and we went for a walk. He seemed to feel fine, but did vomit a tiny bit of kibble this evening around 9. I searched through it (gross) to make sure medication didn't come up. Nope...just 3 pieces of kibble. I'm really not surprised. For some reason he seemed REALLY hungry tonight. He actually snagged some of Penny's food before I could get to him to put her food up. She was outside with Dad. Anyway, Sheldon isn't normally that hungry to want more food. He usually just takes a bit of kibble and walks away. Next time he goes in the kitchen he grabs another piece and walks away. This continues until his food is gone. He doesn't get overly excited about meal time. (Treat time is different, though) Penny is the one we have to watch with eating too much.

(Sheldon's meds, records, and treats)

I'm happy to have one of our vet visits behind us. The doctor and staff are nice, but it's still not something Sheldon looks forward to, so neither do Mom and Dad.

And here are just some random photos from the day.
...peeping out one of the doors at other dogs and humans.

...looking to Dad for encouragement.

...and boredom of Mom's cell camera is setting in for Dad.
